Bec-Hellouin: one of the most beautiful villages in Normandy
Discovering a postcard village
Nestled in a valley is the small village of Bec-Hellouin, one of the most beautiful villages in France
The village owes its fame primarily to the abbey of Notre-Dame du Bec: built in the 11th century, the religious building became an important centre of Christianity. Its Saint-Nicolas tower has been a listed monument since 1840. The abbey is now open to the curious, with guided tours to discover this little architectural jewel (more information).
In addition to this magnificent historic monument, the village of Bec-Hellouin has become one of the most famous "postcard" villages in Normandy: after your visit to the abbey, wander through the flower-filled streets and admire the beautiful colourful half-timbered houses of the village.
Take the opportunity to discover the Saint-André church or the Saint-Françoise Romaine monastery. A real invitation to go back in time and relax!
